From our home to yours--to become a loving, affectionate (and crazy) member of your family! ...and remember, Airedales are like potato chips, you just can't stop with one!

About Executive Kennels: Executive Kennels is located in Genoa Township, Livingston County, Michigan. We breed to the Airedale standard. While interpretations of the standard may vary, we will never compromise on health or temperament. Our breeding stock has been x-rayed normal or OFA-approved, thyroid tested, eyes certified. Our stock is bred only to dogs of equal or greater quality, always trying to achieve that "perfect machine."

We truly aim for a puppy that can comfortably make the transition from our family to yours. While we breed for show, we do sell a number of pups as "pet quality." They are sold on a limited registration; that is, while they are registered with the American Kennel Club, they may not be used for breeding. This is to protect the quality of the line.

Our puppies are able to leave our home at 8 to 10 weeks of age. They've been vet-checked and -- at the time of transfer -- will have received all vaccinations required to date. We recommend that you have your puppy checked within a 72-hour period by your own veterinarian. When you pick up your puppy, you will receive a written health guarantee, the puppy's pedigree, 8" X 10" pictures of both parents (if available), puppy food, coupons, and a packet of useful information.

Reserving a Puppy: Since most litters are spoken for before whelping, a deposit will be accepted at any time for upcoming litters. This will ensure male, female, pet, show. If a puppy is not available from that litter, you will have the optiion of waiting for the next available litter or the return of your deposit. For more information on the breed, or for information on upcoming litters, please contact us. If you would like to meet some dogs "up close and personal," give us a call, and we can set up a convenient time

Brief History: Welcome to the King of Terriers, otherwise known as the "gentle giant." Untiring courage, agility, keen hearing, good eyesight, and lively spirit are some of the characteristics of this "manufactured" breed. The Airedale terrier resulted from the mating of the Otterhound with the now extinct black and tan terrier or the old broken-haired English terrier. The resulting cross finally received breed recognition in 1883 when the Birmingham Show of England, the most impportant of all dog shows, formally provided classes as the Waterside terriers. Not until 1886 did the Kennel Club bow to the "Airedale" name. The Kennel Club accepted the dog the following year.

Standard: The full grown male should be approximately 23-24 inches at the shoulder, with an average weight of 60-70 pounds, females slightly smaller, reaching 22-23 iinches at the shoulder, with an average weight of 50-60 pounds. The coat should be wiry and rich in color. Eyes should be dark in color. the back should be short, strong and level with the root of the tail set well up on the back.
